Humility of Existence One-Dimensional Man

I have always regarded with skepticism certainly maxims of people smarter than me and they say that life must be lived with humility. I guess it's because living with humility is better than living without it.

Within historical behavior rules that every society builds with the passage of time, it appears that humility as the value is rooted disproportionate. And indeed, I am not very clear why. Humility is synonymous with wise, virtuous, warm, intelligent, wise, humane and a long list of adjectives. Do not be humble, by contrast, is synonymous with arrogant, rude, unfriendly and a long etcetera. But I think that humility hides, so to speak, very real issues that may seem unpleasant they are still true. So if anyone has economic success (for example) says - "life has treated me well" or "I've had luck in my life" - but never hear say that this success is that - "I'm smarter" or "beating" -. Why such a rule is created, implied, where success or any sign that presupposes an objective located above another group is so frowned upon?

I remember years ago I read an article about Stephen Hawking. The Chronicle said that for many physicists and intellectuals of the time had been desgradable and why not say, irresponsible, Hawking - "in a display of arrogant and lacking in humility" - speaking of himself as one of theoretical physicists major in history. And yet, these same physical and intellectuals say privately that, in fact, Hawking is one of the largest physical has never existed. However, as the truth comes from his own mouth, the subject is "arrogant" and "little humble."

Jacques Le Goff (the great French historian of the Annales school) blames Christianity. And the reason is quite simple: since the message is universal equality of all men, part of the activity of every Christian would be to recognize that equality, even at the cost of minimizing his own achievements. It is clear that the explanation does not address theological issues related to privacy of every one, not the merits or talents related to what Rawls called the "natural lottery." But these complex intricacies of human history, extension was even disconnected from the core aspects of the individual. I think

little humility act causes discomfort because of frentón found a truth (and a person) who can excel in one or the other, catalyzes from batting a feeling associated with selfishness. All are more or less happy with the part you played (something that Hobbes), and realize that the sharing of cake - be it intelligence, money, success or beauty - has favored some more than others, and also those others say so openly, produce less positive feelings. I must admit, however, also gives me a certain dislike the lack of humility, even when it is fully justified.
